Islandhomecare training

At Island Home Care, we believe that exceptional care starts with exceptional training.

Every member of our team follows a robust training and development programme, blending in-house expertise with guidance from leading professionals. We are proud to work with a diverse range of training providers, including the Health and Community Services Education Department, Grow Psychology, Family Nursing & Home Care, The Tara Centre, All About Autism, the National Autistic Society, Dementia Jersey, and Jersey Hospice for Gold Standards Framework training.

From trauma-informed approaches to specialist autism and dementia care, we continually invest in our people to ensure our clients receive safe, innovative, and compassionate support of the highest standard.

Grow Psychology – Reflective Practice with Dr. Rachel Rudd

Our partnership with Dr. Rachel Rud of Grow Psychology brings specialist insight into reflective and trauma-informed practice. Rachel works closely with several of our teams each month, supporting growth in their ability to think reflectively about their work, to communicate as a team and to work in a trauma informed way.  By embedding reflective practice into our culture, we ensure our carers feel supported, empowered and continually able to provide person-centred care of the highest quality.

SPELL Framework with Assumpta Finn

Island Home Care benefits from the expertise of Assumpta Finn, who helps our teams implement the SPELL framework (Structure, Positive approaches, Empathy, Low arousal, Links) through collaborative team meetings. Her guidance ensures our carers can deliver outstanding support to clients with autism and complex needs. Alongside this, our teams undertake supervision training, equipping them with the tools to manage challenges effectively while maintaining a strong, supportive working culture.

Restorative Practice with Dr. Julie Luscombe

We’re proud to collaborate with Dr. Julie Luscombe, an integrative psychotherapist, trauma-informed trainer, and restorative supervision specialist. Drawing on her rich experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, public health educator, and reflective supervision trainer, Julie brings warmth, expertise, and depth to our restorative practice sessions.

Julie’s training helps our care teams cultivate resilience, reflect on challenging experiences in a psychologically safe environment, and nourish their professional growth. By embedding reflective, restorative practice into our culture, we ensure our carers feel supported, so they can continue delivering compassionate, high-quality care every day.
